The classes I teach are:  ACT Prep, Sociology, American History, World History, and Psychology.  I am also the Spanish ITV facilitator.

 

ACT Prep Course Description:

As future college students striving for admission to college, the ACT score can be a very important element to the admissions process.  The purpose of ACT Prep is to increase student awareness of the importance and significance of preparation for improving their ACT college entrance exam score. The students will become more confident of their ability of work with various concepts and relationships of the four areas tested by the ACT (Mathematics, Science, English, and Reading). Students will learn how to think systematically and use the precise logic required for solving typical problems found on the ACT exam. Active involvement in and successful completion of the course should lead the student to greater confidence and higher scores on the ACT exam.

 

American History Course Description:

American History is the interpretation of events, ideas, and their interactions over time.  In order for students to understand the present and make plans for the future, they must have an understanding of the past. This course will primarily focus on 20th century history covering World War I, the Roaring 20's, the Great Depression, World War II, the Cold War, the Civil Rights Movement, and the Vietnam Conflict.

 

Sociology Course Description:

Sociology is known as a Social Science.  We will learn how to develop a sociological imagination by consistently applying concepts and methods to the analyses of real world situations.  By relating concepts to current and historical events, students come to appreciate the relevancy of sociology to their daily lives and social relationships. This course will primarily focus on studying culture and discrimination.

 

World History Course Description:  

World History is the interpretation of events, ideas, and their interactions over time.  In order for students to understand the present and make plans for the future, they must understand the past. This course will primarily focus on European History and 20th century history.

 

Psychology Course Description:  

Psychology is a Social Science that is connected to the Natural Sciences of Biology and Chemistry.  We will learn how to explore the influences of society and the sciences on individual behaviors, group relationships, and the mind. This course will primarily focus on studying the human brain and nervous system, conditioning, psychological disorders, and memory.
